B.S. Nursing - Second Degree Program
Clinical Nursing Program
The second degree program's clinical nursing courses are taken over a five-semester period. Admission to the clinical nursing program requires a separate application. Applications are accepted in January; and upon admission to the program, clinical coursework begins in the Summer.
Screening is based on:
- Completion and verification of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course.
- GPA will be calculated using the most recent 45 semester hours of coursework and GPA from all of the completed nursing prerequisite courses except BIO 110. (NOTE: Grades from technical courses such as CNA, EMT etc., and remedial courses will not be included. High school Advanced Placement scores are not factored into GPA.)
- A grade of “C’” or higher is required in each of the prerequisite courses (or course equivalent). “C-” is not acceptable.
Clinical Nursing Experiences
During the 20 months of study, students are involved in clinical nursing experiences. Clinical experiences are in a variety of health care agencies including hospitals, nursing homes, industry, schools and community agencies, primarily in northeastern Colorado communities. Clinical experiences are concurrent with nursing theory (classes) and is guided by nursing faculty.
