B.S. Nursing - Second Degree Program

Overview


The University of Northern Colorado School of Nursing's Second Degree Nursing Program is specific to students who are seeking a BS in nursing as a second bachelor’s degree. This program prepares students for the rewards and challenges of professional nursing practice as well as providing a foundation for graduate study in nursing.

Students admitted to the Second Degree Program will be able to complete the nursing courses in 20 months (five consecutive semesters). Applications are accepted in January every year; and upon admittance, clinical coursework begins each summer and continues until graduation in December of the following year.  School of Nursing applications are available online in the late fall each academic year and are due in January. 

  1. Your cumulative grade point average (overall GPA of at least 3.0)
    Cumulative GPA (for the purpose of screening) is calculated by using the most recent 45 hours of coursework.
    ; and
  2. A cumulative grade point average reflecting your work in prerequisite courses (GPA of at least 2.0 in the required sciences).
