Criteria for Admission/ Pre-Requisite Courses
To be admitted to the RN-BS Program the student must:
- Be a graduate of a state approved diploma or associate degree nursing program
- Be licensed as a registered nurse
- Have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average at graduation
- Have 1000 hours RN practice in last 3 years (minimum) or be a new Associate Degree (or ADN) graduate
Credit earned in your diploma or ADN program (approximately 39 credits) will be awarded to you upon successful completion of the first 13 earned at UNC.
Courses required before entry into the RN-BS Online Nursing Program with equivalents at the community college:
- CHEM 281 Fundamentals of Biochemistry or CHEM 101 or 111 at CC
- ENG 123 College Research Paper or ENG 122 at CC
- PSY 230 Human Growth and Development or CLEP Exam
- STAT 250 Statistics for Health Sciences or MAT 135 at the CC
- BIO 245 Anatomy and Physiology I or BIO 121 at CC
- BIO 246 Anatomy and Physiology II or BIO 122 at CC
- NURS 398 Pharmacology
- FUND 357 Nutrition in Health and Illness or NLN Challenge Exam
Other liberal arts courses will be required determined by a
review of your transcripts. Liberal arts core courses do
not have to
be completed before entry into the nursing program. See Liberal Arts
