RN to BSN Degree Program
Criteria for Admission & Prerequisite Courses
To be admitted to the RN-BSN Program the student must:
- Be a graduate from an accredited ADN or Diploma Nursing Program
- Be licensed as a registered nurse
- Have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average at graduation
Credit earned in your diploma or ADN program (approximately 40 credits) will be awarded to you upon successful completion of the first 12 earned at UNC.
Courses required before entry into the RN-BSN Online Nursing Program with equivalents at the community college:
- CHEM 281 Fundamentals of Biochemistry or CHEM 101 or 111 at CC
- ENG 123 College Research Paper or ENG 122 at CC
- PSY 230 Human Growth and Development or CLEP Exam
- STAT 250 Statistics for Health Sciences or MAT 135 at the CC
- BIO 245 Anatomy and Physiology I or BIO 201 at CC
- BIO 246 Anatomy and Physiology II or BIO 202 at CC
- NURS 327 Pharmacology or NLN Challenge Exam
- FND 357 Nutrition in Health and Illness or NLN Challenge Exam
Other liberal arts courses will be required determined by a review of your transcripts. Liberal arts core courses do not have to be completed before entry into the nursing program. See Liberal Arts Requirements on the menu.
