RN to BSN Degree Program

Criteria for Admission & Prerequisite Courses

To be admitted to the RN-BSN Program the student must:

  • Be a graduate from an accredited ADN or Diploma Nursing Program
  • Be licensed as a registered nurse
  • Have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average at graduation

Credit earned in your diploma or ADN program (approximately 40 credits) will be awarded to you upon successful completion of the first 12 earned at UNC.

Courses required before entry into the RN-BSN Online Nursing Program with equivalents at the community college:

  • BIO 251 Allied Health Microbiology or BIO 204 at CC
  • ENG 123 College Research Paper or ENG 122 at CC
  • PSY 230 Human Growth and Development or PSY 235 at CC or CLEP Exam
  • STAT 150 Statistics for Health Sciences or MAT 135 at the CC
  • BIO 245 Anatomy and Physiology I or BIO 201 at CC
  • BIO 246 Anatomy and Physiology II or BIO 202 at CC
  • FND 250 Principles of Nutrition or NLN Challenge Exam

Other liberal arts courses will be required determined by a review of your transcripts. Liberal arts core courses do not  have to be completed before entry into the nursing program.
