Letter from Coordinator

Dear Prospective Student:

The Master of Science in Nursing program at the University of Northern Colorado has three emphasis areas: Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Chronic Illness Management. The Nursing Education emphasis also includes a clinical emphasis in chronic illness management. We currently offer all courses in a one-day-a-week format on Thursdays and many classes are offered online. Students have the option of enrolling part time or full time. Please check out our web site for course descriptions and other information, including a link for online application to the Graduate School.

The Education program of study prepares graduates to teach in clinical agencies and in schools of nursing. The graduate courses in nursing prepare advanced nurse educators to be case managers for individuals with chronic illness and to promote their optimum level of functioning. The program offers students a unique opportunity to explore advanced leadership roles in education, health promotion, and in the management of chronic illness.

Students are admitted to the program in Fall semesters only. Once students are fully admitted to the program and enrolled full time (nine semester hours), they may be eligible for Federal Nurse Traineeship money to support their education. Contact the school with questions (970) 351-2293. Please read carefully the information on Health and Safety Requirements, within the school web site.

Sincerely,

Carol Roehrs PhD, RN
