Human Services Advising

New Majors

Incoming freshmen will work with the NHS Advising Center for their first three semesters. Crystal Ibarra-Santoyo is the Human Services advisor at the NHS Advising Center.

Current UNC students who wish to change majors should meet with a Human Services advisor and they will complete a Major/Minor change form. You will be assigned an advisor at that time.

Students new to the Human Services program are encouraged to read the program requirements in the UNC Catalog. If you have questions about the degree prior to declaring the major, please contact Dr. David Greene.

Current Majors

Existing Human Services majors with advising questions should contact their advisor directly via email. Information about your advisor can be found through Degree Works (located in Ursa).

Transfer Students

After being admitted to UNC you will receive an email via your BearMail Account with a link to access online orientation. Online orientation is required for all incoming transfer and nontraditional students. There is also an optional in-person welcome.

After completing orientation, contact the appropriate advisor for your chosen major through the NHS Advising Center.

Classes you want full? Get on the Waitlist!

UNC and Human Services use an automated waitlisting process to ensure timely registration and fairness for all students. To get on the waitlist for a class, simply enter the CRN into the "add classes worksheet" at the bottom of the first page in registration in Ursa.

You will receive a message that the course is closed but will be given the option to add yourself to the waitlist if one is available.

Important:

  • Students may not be waitlisted or registered in two sections of the same course (cannot waitlist for a 10 am section if you're registered for an 8 am!)
  • If a spot opens, an email will be sent to the student's Bear Mail address. You have 24 hours to claim the open spot.

For more detailed information, visit the Registrar's website.
