Online Gerontology Graduate Certificate Program

This flexible online 12 credit certificate is designed for individuals who hold or are pursuing a graduate degree in a different discipline, or who have or are obtaining a professional designation, such as an RN, MSW or MBA. It is also intended for those who have a bachelor's degree in any discipline and several years of experience in a human service related occupation. Each graduate level course is taught by UNC Gerontology faculty, and offered online at least once a year.

Acceptance into the certificate program requires that you meet minimum requirements for admission to the UNC Graduate School, with a GPA of 3.0 or better in your most recent 60 semester hours of college work.  At this time, UNC is unable to accept applications for admission to online courses or programs from students residing in Kentucky or North Carolina.  If you reside in one of these states and would like further information, please contact UNC Extended Campus.

The certificate is offered through UNC Extended Campus. You will find detailed information about the Gerontology Graduate Certificate Program on the Extended Campus website.

Certificate, endorsement-only and principal licensure program students (non-degree seeking) ARE NOT eligible for aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may direct specific questions to the UNC Office of Financial Aid.

If you are a current graduate student in another UNC program and would like to take classes for the Gerontology Certificate, email the Graduate School to inform them you wish to add the certificate. You do not need to reapply to earn this certificate in addition to your program.
