The School of Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Physicshouses personalized major, minor, teacher certification, and concentration programs for a wide range of undergraduate students and for selected graduate students at both the masters and Ph. D. level. We celebrate the joy of learning about our fascinating and exciting physical world, typically in relatively small major classes taught mostly by Ph. D. professors. Practical applications of knowledge and hands-on laboratory/field experiences are emphasized within the school.Long traditions of successfully placing students in various job markets and graduate schools mark our past and keep us mindful of rapidly-changing trends in the physical sciences. There are 16 different major undergraduate emphasis areas from which to choose (including 4 science teaching programs), 3 masters programs (2 in Chemistry and 1 in Earth Sciences), and 1 Ph. D. program (Chemical Education). Active undergraduate research and internship programs are available and may be required in some majors within the school Student activism in national science organizations is strongly encouraged by clubs such as the American Chemical Society Student Affiliate, American Meteorological Society Student Chapter, and the Society of Physics Students. So, for strong and supportive science programs where student learning is the top priority, we are your home! |
