Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology (MA)
Residential Program

Application Process:

Deadline for Fall Semester Entry: February 1, 2015 (a class of 22-24 graduate students begins each year).

Applications with all required materials must be submitted to the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS), and an online application to the UNC Graduate School must also be completed. Transcripts, GRE scores, and letters of recommendation need only be sent to CSDCAS.

All application materials must be received by the above deadline for admission consideration.

Initial decisions about admission to the program are typically made by mid-March. A list of alternates is also developed, and alternates may be admitted to the program up until the beginning of Fall semester.

Strong applicants will have a solid background in communication disorders as well as science. Desired science courses include biology, chemistry, and human anatomy and physiology.

Required materials:

Graduate Record Examination (GRE): GRE Scores that are no more than five years old are required as a part of the application process. The GRE should be taken with sufficient lead-time. We do not use a 'cut-off' score for GREs at this time. Scores must be submitted to CSDCAS prior to the application deadline. PLEASE NOTE: Designated Institution (DI) Code is 0033.

Letters of Recommendation: Three letters of recommendation are required. Two must be recommendations from professors who can address your academic qualifications for graduate study. The third may be from another professor or someone with whom you have worked professionally. Please use the online format provided by CSDCAS.

Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences Statement of Professional Goals: Provide a statement of professional goals (letter of intent) not to exceed 500 words. Submit to CSDCAS.
