The Donald and Karen Bailey Choral Festival March 26-29, hosted by the School of Music, culminates Saturday with a chamber music performance, a special lecture by a leading Bach scholar and the performance of J.S. Bach's "St. Matthew Passion" by the UNC Concert Choir, a professional orchestra and guest soloists. All are free for UNC students, faculty and staff.
The free UNC Chamber Music performance of Bach's "Sonata in C" for unaccompanied violin will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at St. Patrick Presbyterian Church, 803 10th Ave. Tickets are not required.
A free lecture by Daniel Melamed from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, also on Saturday, will begin at 4 p.m. in Kepner Hall's Milne Auditorium. No ticket is required.
The performance of the "St. Matthew Passion" Saturday will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave. Tickets, available by calling the College of Performing Arts box office at 351-2200, are free for UNC students (limit of one) and faculty and staff (limit of two).
