UNC's Hispanic Studies department last week launched the first issue of its new online Spanish academic journal for students, Cadenicas.
The annual publication, which features students' creative writing, literary criticism, original artwork and photos and news of the Hispanic Studies program's various activities, is available on the program's website.
Faculty in the program serve as the publication's editorial board and as jurors for student submissions.
Cadencias is edited by Professor Ester Gonzalez, who's assisted by students Adriana Camacho and Katie Gray. Recent graduate Amy McCullough, who works in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences' dean's office, assisted with the website.
