UNC Student Passes Away; Counselors, Campus Support Available

It is with great sadness that we report that one of our UNC students passed away over the weekend in an incident off campus. While the thoughts of the UNC community are with family and friends of the student, the name of the student is not being released by the university at this time out of respect for the student's family and considerations for their privacy.

Licensed counselors from UNC's Counseling Center are available to students and employees. Counselors are available for all students 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays. Sessions are confidential and free. Walk-in services are also available. The Counseling Center can be reached at (970) 351-2496 or after business hours at (970) 351-2245.

In addition, the Dean of Students office can assist impacted students in communicating with their faculty about how this situation may impact attendance and participation in courses. The office can also direct students to additional resources that may be of help during this difficult time.

To schedule an appointment, contact the dean's office at (970) 351-2796, or visit the office on the third floor of the University Center across from the Panorama Room.

Should you know of individuals needing assistance, please let them know that the Counseling Center and the Dean of Students Office are available to help.
