UNC Grad Student Receives Scholarship for Providing Counseling in Rural Areas

University of Northern Colorado graduate student Marchele McCarthy received one of six $3,000 scholarships awarded by the NBCC Foundation in recognition of her commitment in providing counseling services in rural and underserved areas in Colorado.

McCarthy is currently pursuing her master’s degree in clinical counseling at UNC. Her scholarship recognizes her demonstrated commitment to bringing much-needed mental health services to her community in rural Colorado, driving 170 miles and over two mountain passes to attend her counseling program, and servingseveral local agencies.
