Nutritious entrees available in the University of Northern Colorado’s dining rooms have received the stamp of approval for healthy meals through a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment program.
The "Smart Meal Seal," visible above entrees at the Dash lines in Tobey-Kendel and Holmes dining rooms, signifies which food items meet the department’s requirements for healthy options at restaurants. There’s also an explanation of how to create a smart meal, 700 or fewer calories consisting of a main dish, 1-2 sides and choice of fresh fruit and/or fat-free and low-fat milk.
UNC is the first institution in Colorado to earn the department’s distinction.
