UNC Teaching Program Featured on Library of Congress Web Site
UNC’s Teaching with Primary Sources program is the featured program for June 2009 on the Library of Congress’ TPS website at http://www.loc.gov/teachers/tps/. Read the Consortium Member Showcase at http://www.loc.gov/teachers/tps/consortium/showcase/index.html to learn about the UNC-based program that serves K-12 teachers in northern Colorado and in rural and outlying areas of the state. Also, the library’s spring 2009 quarterly newsletter at http://www.loc.gov/teachers/tps/newsletter/pdf/TPSNewsSpring09.pdf includes a story about Fort Collins art teacher Lisa Brose, an active participant in the UNC’s TPS workshops.
Teaching with Primary Sources is funded by the Library of Congress (one of 21 such programs across the country) with the primary goal of providing professional development for K-12 educators introducing them to the more than 14 million digitized sources from the library’s online collections (www.loc.gov). This July, TPS will offer a beginning level workshop, Essentials Exploration, July 8-9 at UNC’s Centerra Center; and an advanced summer institute, Nation at the Crossroads: Rediscovering the Federal Writers’ Project, July 28-30, at the UNC Lowry Center.
