Projection: Total Enrollment Highest in Decade

August 21, 2017

Total enrollment at the University of Northern Colorado is projected to be the highest in a decade as the university experiences a third year of growth.

The preliminary figures from the opening day of fall semester at the University of Northern Colorado show:

  • Total enrollment on the first day of classes is up 3 percent (12,407 compared to 12,004 on opening day last fall).
  • New graduate students will grow 5.5 percent.
  • New students of color will increase over 4 percent.
  • Also of note is the number of students living on campus. With a record number of returning students residing in the halls, over 3,300 are living on campus.

UNC has seen three-year growth in overall enrollment (8 percent), graduate enrollment (29 percent) and undergraduate enrollment (3 percent).

Specific numbers will be provided when they’re confirmed by the census in September. The census numbers are used for reporting 2017-18 enrollment throughout the year.

For more information, read Provost Robbyn Wacker's memo about the preliminary numbers.
