The Environmental Health and Safety Festival scheduled for today on the west lawn of the University Center has been canceled due to the weather. It won't be rescheduled. Also, today's auction of abandoned bicycles by the UNC Police Department has been postponed until noon Sept. 26 at a location to be announced.
The Dean of Students Office is looking for student speakers to give the welcome message at each of the two undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 15. If you know any students who'll be graduating with a GPA of 2.8 or higher, who have been involved in campus life and who would be interested in sharing their thoughts with their fellow graduates at their college's commencement ceremony, please encourage them to apply. More information and application forms are on the Dean of Students' website.
The deadline for applications is Oct. 5.

Transfer Leave has been approved for Marjorie Espinosa, who works at the Campus Recreation Center. Classified and exempt staff who accrue vacation hours may donate hours to help offset her leave without pay. A donation form is available on the Human Resources website or by calling HR at 351-2718.
Join the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center (20th Street and 14th Avenue) from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, for a 16th of September celebration commemorating 200 years of Mexican Independence and Hispanic Heritage Month with free food, music and entertainment. Learn about the Latino culture and meet with various clubs and organizations on campus associated with the center.
Presentations related to Hispanic History Month and a grito contest (the traditional Mexican scream) are also on the agenda.

Homecoming will be celebrated Oct. 1-6, and it's time to nominate students for the 2012 Homecoming Court. If you know seniors graduating in December or May who are positive role models, academically driven and passionate about UNC, nominate them by Sept. 19 using this convenient online form on the Homecoming website.

Bears P.A.Y It Forward is a chance for UNC students, faculty and staff and the Greeley community to come together to help clean up the parks, alleys and yards throughout the University District from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, just in time for Homecoming. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Applebee's, 4100 10th St. in Greeley with proceeds going to support RSVP programs. Tickets are $5 and includes pancakes, sausage and coffee or juice.
