All members of the campus community are invited to attend upcoming forums starting this week and provide input for three candidates for the position of Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Community Standards and Conflict Resolution. The forums are:
The position will administer the student discipline process, communicating and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct; serve as a university hearing officer, adjudicating cases of academic and non-academic misconduct; facilitate conflict resolution processes; serve as a resource to the university community and campus and local law enforcement agencies regarding student conduct issues and potential conflict; assess the effectiveness of the conduct process; coordinate educational programming on student rights and responsibilities; assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

UNC's Rocky Mountain Cancer Rehabilitation Institute will host a reception at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 11, to dedicate the JoEllen M. Thornton Strength and Conditioning Room at the institute. The reception recognizes a $100,000 grant from a donor-advised memorial fund.
Thornton, who had ovarian cancer, died in 2010.
All members of the campus community are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
Faculty, staff and students are all encouraged to attend Fall Convocation, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, in Cranford Park near Carter Hall. Celebrate the start of the academic year and welcome new students and employees to UNC with this formal ceremony that highlights UNC traditions.
Afterward, join the celebratory march across campus to Turner Green for A Taste of UNC and Bear Fest..

The GLBTA Resource Office seeks faculty, staff and graduate students to help maintain and grow an inclusive campus of allies to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities by participating in the office's Safe Zone training session from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.
The training informs participants about issues surrounding the GLBT communities and how they can be supportive allies.
