Year-End Purchase Order Procedures Detailed

Purchasing and Contracts reminds those responsible for preparing purchase requisitions of upcoming deadlines for transferring current fiscal year standing purchase orders to the new fiscal year (June 13) and for reviewing purchase order encumbrances (July 9).

Standing Purchase Order Fiscal Year Transfer Procedures

If you currently have Standing Purchase Orders for Fiscal Year 13 and wish to transfer them to Fiscal Year 14, the Standing Order Fiscal Year Transfer Form can be found on the Purchasing and Contracts web page. Be certain to have an authorized signator (s) sign the form for all accounts that are represented on the form. Completed forms should be sent to Purchasing and Contracts, CB 61, no later than Thursday, June 13.

Note that a UNC Visa card may be used for services and recurring payments that do not exceed $5,000 per month. This should eliminate the need for standing purchase orders for these items. All agreements for services must still be renewed and approved by purchasing and contracts staff.

Reviewing Purchase Order Encumbrances Reminder

Please review FGIOENC purchase order encumbrances. Send an e-mail to Morgan Gray or Mary Jantz listing the Fiscal Year 13 POs you wish to remain open as well as the purchase orders you want to be liquidated. This information is needed prior to Tuesday, July 9.

For more information, please see the Fiscal Year End Purchase Order/Encumbrance Procedure Guide located on the Purchasing website.

Please contact Morgan Gray, 351-2287 with questions.

UC Lower Level Construction Update

The lower level of the University Center is currently open to public traffic. All non-food retail outlets and the Computer Commons have re-opened and are operating under normal summer hours. For the scheduled re-openings of food retail outlets, visit the UC's construction update website.

Please be mindful that the lower level is still considered a construction zone while new tile is being installed. Patrons are asked to pay special attention to signage and barricades indicating safe walking lanes and to use caution while moving about in these areas.

Emergency Alert System to be Tested June 5

A test of UNC's Emergency Alert Messaging System will be conducted about noon on Wednesday, June 5. The test message will be sent to UNC email accounts and text-enabled office phones and via text and voice messages to subscribed cell phones. If you want to sign up to receive emergency alert messages on your cell phone or if your cell phone number changed recently, instructions are available on the Emergency Alert System website.

Blackboard Tip of the Month: Getting Help

The Blackboard Support site, which has been updated for the new version, can be accessed two ways. From the Blackboard login page, look below the login for direct links to Faculty or Student Help. From inside a course, select the drop-down menu at the very upper right of the screen and click on the question mark at the bottom of that menu. Add the following link to the Help site to your favorites for easy access: http://www.unco.edu/blackboard/index.htm
