Save the Date: Fall Convocation Aug. 23

Faculty, staff and students are all encouraged to attend Fall Convocation, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, in Cranford Park near Carter Hall. Celebrate the start of the academic year and welcome new students and employees to UNC with this formal ceremony that highlights UNC traditions.

Afterward, join the celebratory march across campus to Turner Green for A Taste of UNC and Bear Fest..

Art Professor’s Photo Wins Award

Professor of Visual Arts Anna Ursyn's photograph of a small tree covered with ice was one of nine works awarded from an international pool of entries for a juried competition held in conjunction with the International Committee of Mathematics' 14th Salon Arts and Math Games, held earlier this month at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris.

Urysn's photo earned an honorable mention award in the competition, which was themed "Mathematics Sees Water in all Its Forms. View all the winning entries here.

Ursyn's photo will be published in Tangente, a French magazine devoted to mathematics.
