Proposals to present at UNC's annual Research Day on Thursday, April 11, are now being accepted, with a deadline of midnight on Thursday, March 14. All undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research or other scholarly projects are welcome to present at Research Day, and faculty are encouraged to ask their students to participate.
Presentation proposals must be submitted through Ursa using the web-based form located in the Research Day 2013 box on the Student, Employee and Faculty tabs.

Research Day is one of many events recognizing academic excellence during Academic Excellence Week, April 7-13 and is coordinated by the Office for Undergraduate Research and the Center for Honors, Scholars and Leadership. UNC now has a social media portal at www.unco.edu/social/ containing links to approved social media pages for UNC programs, departments, offices and other entities. If you have an active Facebook, Twitter, Flickr or other social media page you would like listed on the portal, visit Web Communications' website to find out how to get it added.
The site contains the required approval form to create social media pages, guidelines and best practices for creating them, and a training video.
Students, alumni and employees are encouraged to contribute posts to UNC's Facebook page.
Nominations for the UNC Student Employee of the Year award are now being accepted with a deadline for submissions of Friday, Feb. 15. Nominees can be part-or full-time students employed on or off campus. Awards will be given to the top five nominees, and the first-place winner will compete in the National Student Employee of the Year competition.

All nominees and nominators will be invited to a special reception on Wednesday, April 10, where the winners will be announced. The awards ceremony will take place during National Student Employee Appreciation Week, April 7-13, during which all UNC student employees should be treated to a week full of recognition and appreciation events.

Students and parents will be offered free professional help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form from 1-3 p.m. in the lower level of the University Center on College Goal Sunday, Feb. 10.
The FAFSA is required for all students who plan to pay for college with the help of grants, scholarships, work study or student loans. All parents and students are welcome to attend and a scholarship drawing will be available.
Parents and students should bring copies of their 2012 federal tax returns, or if the 2012 returns aren't complete, 2011 federal tax returns or 2012 W2s are sufficient.
UNC's priority date for the 2013-14 FAFSA is March 1.
