Nominations for the UNC Student Employee of the Year award are now being accepted with a deadline for submissions of Friday, Feb. 15. Nominees can be part-or full-time students employed on or off campus. Awards will be given to the top five nominees, and the first-place winner will compete in the National Student Employee of the Year competition.

All nominees and nominators will be invited to a special reception on Wednesday, April 10, where the winners will be announced. The awards ceremony will take place during National Student Employee Appreciation Week, April 7-13, during which all UNC student employees should be treated to a week full of recognition and appreciation events.

A farewell reception for Nancy Gray will be held 2-4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the fourth-floor boardroom of Carter Hall. Gray, who has served in the Office of Financial Aid since October 1988, will become director of Financial Aid at Aims Community College.
Housing and Residential Education has an opening in the faculty in residence program for spring semester, with applications due by Dec. 17. An application form, position description and brochure about the program are available on the HRE website.

The December Read-In from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Michener Library will commemorate Pearl Harbor Day with the reading of words written about or spoken about World War II and the "Greatest Generation."
One more reader is needed for a 15-minute slot. Visit the Read-In website to sign up for the slot or a slot during the spring semester read-ins.
Read-Ins are held the first Tuesday of every month November-May (except January) and are sponsored by the English Education program and University Libraries.

Only two days left in the senior Dietetics majors supply drive to benefit the Colorado Crossroads Safehouse, a nonprofit shelter for adults and children who are victims of domestic abuse. Supplies needed include diapers, prepaid phone cards, toiletries, cleaning supplies and other items.
Donations can be placed in boxes located in Kepner, Gunter, McKee, the University Center and the Recreation Center or brought to the Dietetics department on the second floor of Gunter Hall.

The University Center will host a visit from Santa Claus from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5. Bring the kids by for a complimentary photo.
