Spring Football Game Includes Bears Fan Fest

The annual Bears Blue and Gold spring football game Saturday, April 26, at Nottingham Stadium will include a Bears Fan Fest at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot with music, games, a kids' area, vendors and more. Kick-off for the game is noon, and afterward there'll be a 30-minute photo and autograph session with the team on the field. Admission is free for all events. Continue Reading

Undergraduate Research Summer Stipend Applications Now Available

The Office of Undergraduate Research is now accepting applications for stipends of $750 and grants-in-aid of up to $250 for supplies/travel expenses to support four or five students' summer research projects. Applications are due April 28. Full stipend guidelines and an application form are available on the OUR website.

It’s Not Too Late to Join Women’s Walk April 26

Help support women's athletic scholarships and programs at UNC by participating in the sixth annual Women's Walk Saturday, April 26, from 10-10:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion. There's a minimum $25 registration fee for the 30-minute walk around campus with student-athletes, coaches, alumni and other UNC supporters. Prizes will be given to all participants. UNC Arts Collaborative to Host Benefit for Boys and Girls Club

The UNC Arts Collaborative will host a benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of Weld County May 3 at the Atlas Theater, 709 16th St. in Greeley. Doors open at noon. The event is free to all current UNC students with a suggested donation of $10. Tickets, which are required, are available here.

The benefit's events include:

  • Til Dance Do Us Part at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Written by Ariana Conway with music by Eric Pashia, this dark musical comedy explores the timeless tribulations of love and romance.
  • Art Auction from 2-5 p.m.
  • Musical performance by local fusion band Duchovny at 2:30 p.m.

Discounted Tickets Available for Greeley Blues Jam

Through April 30, UNC faculty, staff and students can buy tickets to the June 14 Greeley Blues Jam, featuring Tab Benoit, Marcia Ball and seven other acts, for $20 each, $5 less than the regular advance purchase price and $10 less than the day of the event. Stop by the University Center information desk with your UNC ID to receive the discounted price. For more information about the Jam, visit its website.

Off-Campus Life to Offer First-Time Home Buyer Class

Off-Campus Life will partner with a local real estate professional to offer a First-Time Home Buyer class for anyone interested in home ownership from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the University Center Council Room. The class will be repeated June 10.

The registration fee is $10 for UNC students, staff and faculty and $15 for non-UNC individuals, with an additional $5 for additional attendees. Space is limited to the first 20 registrants.

Topics of the class include:

  • How to purchase a home, from start to finish
  • Finding and using the right realtor
  • Understanding the financial aspects of home purchases
  • How to talk with a lender
  • Understanding financing, down payments and credit

This is a "sales-free" course, meaning no high pressure sales tactics. No personal information will be shared with any real estate professionals.

Free Prescription Drug Take-Back/Document Shredding Day April 26

Reduce the chance of your outdated or unneeded prescription drugs (pills, tablets) being misused or contaminating the local water system or landfill and get confidential documents shredded for free from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the University Center's north parking lot as UNC joins in the effort to help protect your community and your privacy.

Other local drop-off locations are:

  • Main entrance parking lot of the Greeley Police Department, 2875 W. 10th St.
  • Parking lot of the Sam's Club in Evans, 3247 23rd Ave.

All locations are open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for these free services.
