Nursing Professor Named 2015 Harrison Award Winner

Faye Hummel

Faye Hummel, professor of Nursing, has been named winner of this year's M. Lucile Harrison Award, one of UNC's top faculty honors. The award recognizes a faculty member with a long career of professional excellence.

While outstanding teaching has always been a major factor in selecting the recipient of the Harrison Award, career achievements in professional activity and service are also essential components in the evaluation and recognition of an outstanding professor. It is these accomplishments that marked the career of M. Lucile Harrison.

Hummel, a member of the UNC faculty since 1986, currently serves as the interim director of the Nursing program in addition to her teaching responsibilities. She'll be honored at spring commencement ceremonies in May and will be profiled in an upcoming feature story appearing in UNC's e-newsletters and the UNC home page.
