Semifinalists Announced for Fifth Annual Monfort College Of Business Entrepreneurial Challenge

Semifinalists have been chosen for the fifth annual Monfort College of Business Entrepreneurial Challenge at the University of Northern Colorado.

Eighteen semifinalists will present their business concepts to a panel of experts during the challenge's preliminary round Jan. 15 in the UNC University Center, 2101 10th Ave. in Greeley.

Semifinalists include: OneWall Project, LogiLube, Tabrific, Lucan Technologies Inc., Next Generation Systems , Solar Greens, IX Powerclean Water, Handful of Herbs, Congo, Omirown Entertainment, FEN Inc., EnerQi Technologies, Honest Lye, MYO Products, Newaya Recycling, Farnsworth, Boulter, Burke & Stamper, PowerUp EcoGym, and Approach Gear. "We're extremely pleased with the diversity and sophistication of this year's entries," said David Thomas, assistant professor of Management and director of the Entrepreneurial Challenge. "We have entries in the fields of agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, sports and recreation and technology."

Five finalists will present their business plans to a panel of judges in a Shark Tank format at KUSA-TV's 9NEWS studios in Denver March 25. The station is partnering with the Monfort College of Business to promote and broadcast the fifth annual Entrepreneurial Challenge, and will produce a web broadcast to be distributed on as well as a recorded television program.

Gregg Moss, business reporter and 9News anchor, will again be the emcee for the event. The competition awards a total of $50,000 in prize money, with the first-place winner receiving $25,000, second place $15,000 and third place $10,000. In addition, winners will receive business incubator services from UNC BizHub, the new business incubator at the university. Winners will be recognized that night during the Bravo! Entrepreneur Awards, a Northern Colorado Business Report event sponsored by the college.
