UNC Halloween Events to Include Trick-or-Treating, Haunted House

The University of Northern Colorado will host a variety of free Halloween activities that include a haunted house and safe trick or treating for children and families from the community.

Trick (and Trunk) or Treating

  • Trick or Treating will be held at the University Center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Bring the family and check out departments and shops as they celebrate Halloween. Free popcorn will be available at the UC Information Desk.
  • Members of the campus community will have their vehicles decorated and hand out treats during Safe Trunk-or-Treat from 5-7 p.m. on Halloween in the C parking lot south of the UC.

Haunted House

  • Haunted Harrison, the popular haunted house in the basement of Harrison Hall dormitory, will be free and suitable for younger children from 7-8 p.m. before changing to "full-fright" mode from 8-11 p.m. and an admission charge of $1 or a canned food donation. All proceeds go to the Weld Food Bank. This year's theme is "Janitor's Halloween Party." Haunted Harrison runs from Oct. 29-31.

Scary Literary Reading

  • "Thrillers and Chillers for All Hallow's Eve" reading from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, on the first floor of Michener Library. Volunteers will read from works of published authors that address ghoulish themes found in literature.

Pumpkin Carving Contest

  • Carving @ the UC, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 29 and 30. Free pumpkins and pumpkin-carving kits will be provided to students, faculty, staff and community members by the University Center. Student carvings can be entered to win a gift certificate to the UNC Bookstore and Fan Shop.

  • Zombie Survival: Race to the Cure, 6-9 p.m. Oct. 31, on the lawn outside Turner Hall. Can you survive the Zombie Apocalypse? Come to the first-ever zombie race. $2 per person or $10 for teams up to 6. All proceeds go to Coats for Colorado.
  • Enjoy two special Halloween showings of Mexican director Guillermo del Toro's work as part of the International Film Series. Check out "Pan's Labyrinth" Oct. 30 and "The Devil's Backbone" Oct. 31. Both movies show at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. at Lindou Auditorium in Michener Library. Admission is free for students or $3 for family and friends.
