Presentation Proposals for Engaged Scholarship Symposium Due Oct. 19

Applications for presentations for the University of Northern Colorado's sixth annual Engaged Scholarship Symposium from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the University Center ballrooms are due Friday, Oct. 19.

Individuals, groups and organizations from the UNC and Weld County communities involved with regional or global community-based research, partnerships, service learning projects, internships and other activities that connect academic knowledge to practice are encouraged to participate.

Poster presentations, demonstration projects, round table discussions and other formats can be used to showcase projects and initiatives, facilitate networking among participants and recognize excellence in the symposium's interactive setting.

Applications for the symposium, formerly known as Embracing Community Together, are due no later than Oct. 19. An application form and additional information about the symposium is available on the event website. Application form

Engaged Scholarship Awards
The second annual Engaged Scholarship Awards, which will include the inaugural Award for Excellence in Social Science Engaged Research, will be presented during the symposium.

Pre-Symposium Workshop for UNC Faculty
Lorilee Sandmann, professor of adult education at the University of Georgia and a leader in the scholarship of engagement movement for more than 15 years, will introduce UNC faculty to the scholarship of engagement movement and its relevance to their teaching and research during a pre-symposium workshop from 11a.m.-1 p.m. in the Spruce suites at the University Center.
