UNC Gallery Shows Abstract Paintings

The Mari Michener Gallery at the University of Northern Colorado will exhibit abstract paintings in oil and acrylic by Lakewood, Colo., artist Barbara Kloehn.
The exhibit will be displayed in the gallery, in the James A. Michener Library, from Jan. 16-Feb. 22. An opening reception, hosted by The Friends of UNC Libraries and open to the public, will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18.
Kloehn's work has been featured in many Denver galleries and is part of the public collections of American Airlines, Marriott Hotels and the U.S. Postal Service.
"I think of my work as a kind of choreography," she says. "I am primarily interested in a painting's energy, in how it develops and moves in tactile as well as visual terms."
The gallery exhibit is open to the public free of charge during library hours, 7:30 a.m.-midnight Mondays-Thursdays, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and noon-midnight Sundays. Ample parking is available in lots west of the library, and is free on weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.
The gallery's complete exhibit schedule and images from the current show are available online at http://www.unco.edu/library/michgallery.htm.
