Correction: Employees Eligible to Bid on Bikes at PD’s Auction

Upon further review, it's been determined that state regulations no longer prohibit UNC faculty and staff from participating in the UNC Police Department's auction of abandoned bicycles. Staff, faculty, students and the general public area welcome to place bids from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the northwest corner of B Lot by the UC.

Registration Still Open for Cans to Candelaria

Faculty, staff and students can now register their group, department or organization for the seventh annual Cans to Candelaria campus-wide food/cash drive competition to benefit the Weld Food Bank. See details. While all non-perishable food items and cash donations are appreciated, some food items are in higher demand than others, including:

  • canned meat or tuna
  • canned fruits and vegetables
  • canned soups and stews
  • pasta and peanut butter
  • juices (boxed or jarred)

Cash donations help the Weld Food Bank purchase needed items and pay for transportation to bring donated food to Greeley from places throughout the country.

For groups collecting money, each $1 will count as the equivalent of six pounds of food for the final tally.

Registration forms and information about challenging other groups or organizing a food drive in your class, club, department or office are available at the Cans to Candelaria website or by emailing canstocandelaria@hotmail.com.

Upper UC Entrance Facelift Begins Sept. 10

A contractor will begin remodeling the upper entrance on the north side of the University Center Monday, Sept. 10, to improve pedestrian safety and building aesthetics (architect's rendering).

Access to the building through the entrance will remain available during the nine-week project. During the last two weeks, disabled access to that side of the building will be through the lower entrance only.

The loss of parking spaces in the A-2 parking lot should be minimal; the contractor will be using part of the driveway as the staging area.

Although every effort is being made to minimize the project's impact on students, faculty, staff and visitors, the project will be noisy at times and may cause some minor but temporary disruptions to the building's operations.

If you have questions or concerns, contact Interim UC Director Jay Dinges, 351- 1307.
