Inclement Weather Plans for Today’s Convocation, Taste of UNC Announced

With a 50 percent or higher chance of rain showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. today (Aug. 22), university officials are closely monitoring the weather and its potential effect on Convocation, (4:30 p.m.) and Taste of UNC and Bear Fest (immediately following). Currently, attendees are advised to be prepared for inclement weather scenarios as follows:

  1. If there's light to moderate rain, the Convocation procession and ceremony will be held. Use of umbrellas is advisable.
  2. If there's heavy rain or lightning prior to line-up and the start of Convocation, the ceremony will be canceled. Plans are in place to communicate a cancellation to the university and Greeley communities.
  3. If there's heavy rain or lightning during the ceremony, an announcement will be made and the remainder of the ceremony will be canceled, and attendees will be asked to seek shelter in the surrounding buildings until the storm lifts.

The Taste of UNC may be moved into Holmes Dining Hall.
