Fraudulent Wells Fargo Email Warning

UNC's Information Security Team reports that an email purporting to be from Wells Fargo has been sent to some UNC Visa cardholders. The email states that Wells Fargo has temporarily disabled the recipient's online banking access and asks them to click on a link to provide their Wells Fargo login information, and possibly other information.

Please do not open the link in the email.

If you are not sure whether this or any other email purporting to be from Wells Fargo is genuine, please forward the questionable email to alta.herndon@unco.edu.

UNC Alumnus Part of Tony Award-Winning Musical

University of Northern Colorado alumnus Mike Ruckles is the associate music director and piano/conductor for A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which last week won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Ruckles earned a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from UNC in 2002 and a master's in Collaborative Piano in 2009. He also served as musical director and private voice instructor with the School of Theatre Arts and Dance for eight years - music directing over 20 productions.

In the spring of 2013, he was music director and piano/conductor for the Old Globe Theater (San Diego) production of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder before it headed to New York to start its Broadway run in November.

UNC Trustees to Meet Friday

The University of Northern Colorado Board of Trustees will meet at 8:30 a.m. June 13 in the Panorama Room at the University Center, 2101 10th Ave.

Action items on the agenda are:

  • 2014-15 budget, including tuition, fees, room and board rates;
  • campus commons program plan featuring a proposed facility that will serve as a central hub for student support services as well as an entry point for anyone who comes to campus;
  • faculty tenure, promotion and emeritus recommendations;
  • employment agreements for football, volleyball and women's head basketball coaches;
  • and board policy manual amendments approved by Faculty Senate.

The board's tentative 2014-15 meeting schedule is:

  • Sept. 19 (retreat)
  • Nov. 14
  • Jan. 23
  • March 6
  • June 12, 2015

Reminder: Student Employer Training June 20

Don't forget that Monday, June 16, is the deadline to RSVP to attend the Student Employer Training session being offered by the Office of Student Employment 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Friday, June 20, in the Gunter Hall auditorium (room 1720). Lunch will be provided.

Anyone who interviews, hires, supervises or works in any other capacity with student employees (hourly, salaried or work study) is encouraged to attend the session.

Topics covered will include work study, I-9 forms and injury reporting, hiring of international students, payroll overview and forms, hiring students through the online job bank and other career resources, security issues, and any other student employment topics you would like covered.

DSS Offers Website Accessibility Courses

Disability Support Services invites the campus community to an informational session about two free self-paced, web-based training courses on assessing and developing websites with accessibility in mind 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, in Michener L-12. A reception will follow. Attendance isn't required to take the courses, but registration for the event is required by emailing Alyse Campbell.

The courses, "Accessibility Concepts" (course outline) and "Web Accessibility Basics" (course outline) offer information about changes in compliance requirements under Section 508 and the WCAG 2.0 guidelines.

The courses are offered by SSB Bart Group, a leader in software, training and consulting to address the needs of organizations affected by accessibility requirements.

Counseling Center to Offer Mental Health First Aid Course

The UNC Counseling Center will offer a free Mental Health First Aid certification course for students and employees 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. June 16-17.

Mental health First Aid is a ground-breaking prevention program being implemented throughout the U.S. and around the world that research has shown reduces stigma, enhances behavioral health literacy and improves behavioral health.

Space is limited to 30 participants. Participants must be able to attend both sessions:
