UNC Professor to Present at International Environmental Education Event

Richard Jurin, associate professor of Biological Sciences and coordinator of UNC's Environmental Studies and Sustainability program, will present his work on sustainable living, and on the role of spirituality in environmental education at the seventh World Environmental Education Congress in June 9-14 in Marrakech, Morocco.

More than 2,800 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the congress, which is held every two years. Jurin also presented at the 2009 and 2011 congresses.

Retirement Reception for Berna De Scott

The Registrar's Office will host a retirement reception for Berna De Scott from 2-4 p.m. Friday, May 31, in the Centennial Hall room in Brown Hall. All members of the university community are invited to stop by and wish her well after 24 years of service at UNC.

A new edition of NHS News, the College of Natural and Health Sciences' newsletter, is now available for reading or downloading on the NHS website.

UNC High Jumper Advances to NCAA Championships

UNC sophomore Trevor Evanson cleared 7 feet, 1 inch with no misses in yesterday's high jump competition at the NCAA Division 1 Track and Field West Regionals and will advance to the NCAA Championships, June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore. Continue Reading

May 25 Power Outages to Affect Five West Campus Buildings

On Saturday, May 25, work by a contractor on the electrical switches that serve multiple buildings on West Campus will require the following power outages:

  • McKee Hall: 4:30-7 a.m.
  • Michener Library: 4:30-7 a.m.
  • Campus Recreation Center: 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Butler Hancock Hall: 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Candelaria Hall: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Buildings will be closed during their respective outages. If necessary, Sunday, May 26, will be utilized as a back-up date for this power outage.

Bubblesheet Course Evaluations Due May 31

The deadline for scanning all spring semester bubble sheet course evaluation forms is Friday, May 31. Forms not scanned by then will not be included in the report file will be run June 1 to send to the college deans' offices. Please refrain from scanning course evaluations until next week to give exam scanning priority at the scanner stations located in Carter Hall and the University Center.
