Best-Selling Author on Investments to Speak at UNC March 6

Robert A. Wiedemer, a financial advisor and New York Times best-selling author of America's Bubble Economy, The Aftershock and The Aftershock Investor, will present "The Aftershock View of the Economy" at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in Kepner Hall's Milne Auditorium on the University of Northern Colorado campus.

The presentation and a pre-event reception at 5:30 p.m. are free and open to the public.

Wiedemer is president of Aftershock Publishing and a managing director at Absolute Investment Management, a money management firm. His books have been translated into Chinese, Japanese and Polish and he is a popular speaker to groups of investors, financial analysts and economists worldwide. He has an MBA in marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Wiedemer is the fourth speaker in the Monfort College of Business' Executive Professor Program Speaker Series this year.

Free parking is available after 5 p.m. in K lot, accessed via 17th Street off 8th Avenue.

The program is designed to provide opportunities for ongoing interaction among business professionals and practitioners, faculty and students.

Fifth Annual Festival de Chicano/a Artes March 6

UNC's Mexican American Studies Club will host the fifth annual Festival de Chicano/a Artes, from 5:15-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the University Center ballrooms. Celebrate the works of local artists while enjoying a buffet, music, an art gallery walk and a performance by Greeley artist Armando Silva.

The event is free but tickets, available at the UC information desk, are required. More information is available on the club's website.

Fall 2013 Advising PINs Now Available

PINs for the fall 2013 semester are now available for advising. Faculty and advisors can access an individual student PIN via Banner Self-Service (Faculty & Advisors, Student Information Menu, Advisee Listing) or a group report of PINs for majors can be found through Insight (Production, Academic View, Advising tab, ACD029 PIN lists).

If there is no PIN for a student, please contact the Registrar's Office at 970-351-2231 so a PIN can be assigned. PINs must be given to students by an academic advisor upon completion of advising.

UNC Business Students, SBDC to Offer Free Web Development Seminars for Small Businesses March 9

Small business owners in northern Colorado will learn how to create and maintain a business website and how to grow both the site and their audience during free workshops being offered on Saturday, March 9, in Kepner Hall on the University of Northern Colorado campus.

The seminars are a joint project of the Northeast East Central Small Business Development Center, students from UNC's Monfort College of Business, Google and Inuit.

Four free seminars will be offered, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The "Build Your Own Website" seminar is offered at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The 90-minute seminar will enable small business owners to build a basic, fully functional website and host it for one year, absolutely free.

The "Grow Your Audience & Website" seminar begins at 10:30 a.m. and again at 3:00 p.m. and will help small business owners grow their audience and internet presence through search engine optimization.

Attendees can also choose to attend a lab, where students can provide personalized guidance.

"This is a great way for students at the Monfort College of Business to work with the SBDC and share their knowledge and support small businesses throughout Northern Colorado," said Don Gudmundson, dean of the college. "Our students initiated the idea and worked with Google, Intuit and the SBDC to bring it to life."

HR Employment Verification Form Updated

The Colorado Employment Verification Affirmation form, which must be submitted with I-9s, has been updated and the new form should be used effective immediately The new form is on the Human Resource Services Forms web page.

Correction: Rosenberry Writers' Conference

Connie Willis' reading during the Rosenberry Writers' Conference will be Wednesday, March 6. The story about the conference in the Feb. 27 newsletter contained the incorrect day of the week.
