Emergency Alert System to be Tested Feb. 21

A test of UNC's Emergency Alert Messaging System will be conducted about noon on Wednesday, Feb. 21. The test message will be sent to UNC email accounts, text-enabled campus phones, subscribed cell phones (text message) and campus emergency poles. If you want to sign up to receive emergency alert text messages on your cell phone or if your cell phone number changed recently, instructions are available on the Emergency Alert System website.

Submit Nominations for M. Lucile Harrison Award by Friday

Nominations for the M. Lucile Harrison Award, which recognizes a faculty member with a long career of professional excellence, are due in the Provost's office no later than Friday, Feb. 23. Nomination letters may be submitted by faculty, staff or students and include a letter of recommendation, two additional letters of support, and the nominee's current vita.

Submissions should be sent to provost.office@unco.edu by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23.

Review criteria include but are not limited to: evidence of excellence and innovation in teaching, a continuous record of peer reviewed nationally/internationally disseminated research, scholarship or creative works, service to program, university, discipline or community. More information, including criteria, a list of past recipients, and complete instructions for submitting a nomination are on the Provost's Office website.

Service Milestone Verification Needed for Staff Recognition Banquet

The 47th annual Staff Recognition Banquet, which includes recognition of service milestones achieved by staff during 2017, will he held March 26. Please review the awardee list (PDF) and contact Julie Nava, 351-2621, by Friday, March 9, with corrections, including name adjustments.

Deadline approaches: Submit for Research Day by March 1

Applications to present at UNC's annual Research Day on Thursday, April 5, will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 1. All undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research, creative or scholarly works are welcome to present. Categories are provided for undergraduate and graduate students for posters, oral, class and panel presentations. The Research Excellence Awards Competition is held in conjunction with Research Day. Faculty are encouraged to send their classes for credit or extra-credit; attendance forms are provided by Research Day staff. The application to participate in Research Day is available through the online form located on the My Account section in Ursa. Weight Watchers Offers Promotion through State Employee Discount Program

Weight Watchers, a partner of the Colorado State Wellness Program, is offering a promotion Friday for anyone who is interested. With the INSPIRE promotion, employees who attend a free meeting, from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, can choose to join and qualify for the free Starter Kit when they register by Feb. 23. Call for Proposals: FRPB New Project Program

The Faculty Research and Publications Board invites faculty members who hold at least a .50 FTE appointment to submit proposals to the New Project Program, with a deadline of 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21. The New Projects Grant Program provides seed money for individual or group projects that are at the initial stages of a research or creative program. Ongoing work will not be considered for NPP funding. Preference will be given to initial or pilot work intended to result in external funding to support continuation and expansion of the research. Each NPP grant will be limited to a maximum award of $5,000. Proposal guidelines and forms are available on the Office of Research website. For more information, contact your FRPB representative.
