Operating Schedules for Some UNC Buildings, Services Change During Winter Break

Some campus buildings and services such as Dining Services will have reduced operating schedules during winter break in addition to being closed Dec. 25-29 and Jan. 1, which are holidays for university employees. Here's where to find out more about winter break schedules:

Lawrenson and Harrison residence halls and Arlington Park Apartments will be open for students residents who will not be going home for the break.

To contact specific university departments for information about schedules and services available during the break, visit the UNC Contacts website.

Fall Semester Grades Due Dec. 13

The deadline for submitting final grades for fall semester courses is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. Contact Laura Beyers in the Registrar's Office at 351-1845 with questions. Grades submitted after the deadline will negatively affect students' financial aid and/or graduation.

Grade explanations and instructions for assigning final grades, are available on this PDF. For technical support when submitting grades in Ursa, contact the Technical Support Center at 351-4357 or at http://help.unco.edu.

Please note that:

  • A last date of attendance (last date of a student's last "academic-related activity") is required for the submission of "F" or "U" grades and is necessary to ensure that any student receiving a failing grade actually attended the class per U.S. Department of Education guidelines (34 CFR 668.22).
  • A grade of "UW" indicates an unauthorized withdrawal and is assigned only when the student has never attended the class for which they were enrolled.
  • At the discretion of the instructor, a temporary grade of Incomplete - "I" may be given to a student who demonstrates that he/she could not complete the requirements of the course due to circumstances beyond the student's control and not reasonably foreseeable. A student must be passing a course at the time that an Incomplete is requested unless the instructor determines that there are extenuating circumstances to assign an Incomplete to a student who is not passing the course.
  • Please remember to never share your passwords for any reason. Providing your URSA password gives others access to many other things you have access to such as your pay information, email, etc. Sharing passwords is a violation of the University Regulations. If you need access you do not currently have, please call the Technical Support Center at 970-351-HELP.

Winter Break Energy Conservation Tips

Winter break is a great time to save energy resources if you're going to be away, whether you live on or off campus. Before you leave for the break, look around and turn off any and all equipment that won't be in use while you're gone. Remember to:

  • Power your computer down (it's OK to turn it off every night unless a research project specifies otherwise)
  • If you use a separate computer monitor, use the power button to turn it all the way off
  • Turn off your personal desktop printer
  • Turn off any other little device: radio, calculator, speakers, etc.
  • Unplug any space heaters
  • Turn off the lights
  • Be sure all of your windows are closed
  • Turn down your thermostat, if applicable
