Publishing with a University Press Presentation Nov. 12

If you've wanted to publish a book with a university press, you can learn more about it during a presentation by Darrin Pratt, director of the University Press of Colorado, from 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in Michener Library Government Publications area (lower level).

Pratt will discuss opportunities with the University Press of Colorado in particular and with university presses and other publishers in general for the first half-hour, and field individual questions for the remaining hour.

This event, which is held during University Press Week, is co-sponsored by the Office of Research and the University Libraries. Refreshments will be served.

Founded in 1965, the University Press of Colorado is a nonprofit cooperative publishing enterprise supported, in part, by Adams State University, Colorado State University, Fort Lewis College, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Regis University, University of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, Utah State University, and Western State Colorado University. The Press publishes 20-25 new titles each year, with the goal of facilitating communication among scholars and providing the peoples of the state and region with a fair assessment of their histories, cultures, and resources. The Press has extended the reach and reputation of our supporting institutions and has made scholarship of the highest level in many diverse fields widely available.

Pratt has worked in academic publishing for over twenty years, having begun his career at the Indiana University Press. He has served as the director and acquiring editor for the University Press of Colorado since 2000, where he oversaw the successful merger of Utah University Press with the UPC. He is active in the Association of American University Presses and currently serves as a member-at-large. Darrin received his M.A. in English Literature from Indiana University.
