University Libraries Researcher Workshop Series Continues Nov. 9

The University Libraries' invites faculty and graduate students to register for the next offering of its Researcher Workshop Series: "Showcase Your Impact as An Author/Creator & Tell Your Research Story" from 9:30-11 a.m. Nov. 9 in Michener 303. The workshop will cover how to determine and increase the reach of your scholarly work by becoming more familiar with metrics that measure impact at the journal, article, author and institutional level.

The presenters, Jen Mayer and Nicole Webber, address strategies, tools, challenges and controversies.

PERA Representative to Provide Updates at CSC Meeting

PERA Field Education Representative Rick Chase will provide updates about the fund at the Classified Staff Council's meeting from 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in McKee 282. Chase will address PERA's funded status and discuss the PERA board of trustees' recommended package to the Colorado legislature. The meeting is open to all UNC staff and faculty.

GSA to Host Veteran/Military-Related Research Symposium

As part of Military Appreciation Week, the Graduate Student Association will host presentations by graduate students conducting military- and veteran-related issues from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in the Aspen Suite in the University Center. The presentations are open to all campus community members and the general public. Refreshments will be provided. If you have relevant research or a literature review to present, email the GSA.

Actor to Present ‘Crash Course’ on Works of Moliere Tomorrow

Actor Timothy Mooney, who travels the U.S. giving unique and entertaining "crash courses" on the greatest hits of French playwright Moliere and English playwright William Shakespeare, will present "Moliere than Thou" from 7-9 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 2, in Michener Library's Lindou Auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public.

Co-sponsors include UNC's Office of Student Clubs and Organizations, French Club, Department of Modern Languages, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and College of Performing and Visual Arts.

Registrations for Nov. 18 UNC Military Challenge Now Being Accepted

Support the more than 400 veteran and military-connected students on campus and the UNC Veterans Scholarship fund by entering the fourth annual Military Challenge on Military Appreciation Day at UNC, Saturday, Nov. 18. The Challenge is an urban adventure-style race that consists of an 18-stage obstacle course around campus that will test both physical and mental toughness.

The race briefing will begin promptly at 7:15 a.m. with the race beginning at 8 a.m.. Registration for the event includes a race shirt, breakfast from Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q, craft beer from Crabtree Brewing Company and assorted Pepsi products. All proceeds from the event benefit UNC Veterans Scholarship fund.
