Co-Founder of United Farm Workers Subject of Film, Discussion

The International Film Series and Cesar Chavez Cultural Center will host a free screening of the documentary film Dolores at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in Michener Library's Lindou Auditorium. The film details the life of civil rights activist and United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta. A round table discussion about the film and issues facing migrant workers today will follow.

Huerta is considered by many to be among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history. An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar Chavez, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized. Huerta tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice alongside Chavez, becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century.
