Four UNC Undergraduate Scholars Invited to Present Research

The following four undergraduate scholars have been invited to present their papers at the 2018 National Conference on Undergraduate Research in April: Olufisayo Awolaja, Katie Dorman, Paul McPhail, and Zoe King. Their presentations were accepted out of more than 4,000 submissions. Visit the Office of Undergraduate Research website for more information on their presentations.

UNC's Research Day welcomes graduate and undergraduate students to present their research, creative works, and scholarly projects in a daylong celebration.

All presenters must submit an online application via URSA by March 1. The application is now open via the student, faculty or staff URSA account. For more information on Research Day, go to http://www.unco.edu/honors-scholars-leadership/aew/research-day.aspx

All Research Day activities take place at the University Center. Students present their projects as oral presentations from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., or as poster presentations in one of three poster sessions in the ballrooms.

The campus community, high school students and the general public are welcome to attend Research Day. Over 300 students are expected to present at this event representing all colleges and demonstrating the exceptional level of scholarly work at UNC.

Research Excellence Award competition is held in conjunction with Research Day. Participants submitting to present at Research Day should check the Research Excellence Award box on the application form if they are interested in being considered for awards. Three finalists will be selected in both the poster and oral presentation categories, with graduate students and undergraduate students judged separately.

Disciplines are grouped as follows based on the methodology of the project:

• Natural & Health Sciences

• Humanities & Arts

• Social Sciences, Education & Business

A reception hosted by the Graduate School will be held at 4 p.m. to recognize all Research Excellence Award finalists and winners.
