How to Slice Images in ImageReady:

Step 1

Open your graphic in Image Ready.

Select the Slice Tool.

Step 2

Draw boxes around the areas you wish to cut into different slices or pieces by dragging your mouse from one corner to the opposite corner. Once you have drawn all the boxes you wish to create, your graphic will look something like this graphic.

Sometimes, the default settings may be preset so that ImageReady automatically draws in all the boxes for you once you have drawn one box.

Step 3

In order to modify slices, select the Slice Select Tool. Hold down on the Slice Tool on the toolbar, and a menu will pop out.

Step 4

You can click on any of the pieces and change its slicing by dragging on any of the “grabbers” around the edge of the box.

Step 5

Once you have your graphic sliced, you can save the pieces and a table in HTML code that will layout the pieces by going under File to Save Optimized As.

ImageReady File Menu with Save Optimized As highlightedUnder File on the main menu, Save Optimized As is tenth - the alternative keystroke is Ctrl + Shift + Alt + S.

Step 6

A dialogue box will appear with different options. Notice you can save the file as HTML and Images (which saves the different image pieces and creates an HTML file with the correct table structure), as Images only, or as HTML only.
