Getting Descriptive

To recap, [D] links are your tool of choice for those content-rich graphics that need more explanation than you should dump into an alt tag. Any graphic that conveys a LOT of information to your sighted users and that would greatly enhance your blind user's understanding or ability to function properly should have a corresponding [D] link. To create the perfect [D] link, remember to always include two parts:

  1. descriptive text link

  2. plain HTML page with extended description of the content-rich graphic

So as not to distract your sighted users, who love to pay attention to everything, make the color of your d-link blend in with your page's background using a technique we call "white-on-white." You can achieve this WOW effect by making the font color of the link white or by creating a subclass of .wow for a links in your CSS.
