Higher Learning Commission Site Visit
The Higher Learning Commission team that visited campus Sept. 20-22 will recommend
UNC’s continued accreditation, with its next site visit in 10 years—the maximum time the HLC allows between accreditation visits. The team recognized the impact of the state’s fiscal constraints on UNC and the potential for further erosion of state support. It will ask UNC to submit a progress report in fall 2007 to show the university's continued success in a changing budget environment. The team commended UNC’s
Charting the Future initiative and process. Team members said Charting
the Future was instrumental in demonstrating that the university is able
to plan for the future and weather tough financial times. The team has
two months to submit its recommendations to the HLC, which makes the
final accreditation decision.
The University of Northern Colorado underwent a comprehensive accreditation
review visit September 20-22, 2004. The Higher Learning Commission of
the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC) conducts
the review in cooperation with a group of consultant-evaluators. HLC
evaluates the entire university, verifies institutional quality, and
encourages campus discussions related to institutional improvement.
With input from the entire campus community, three teams, a university
steering committee, criterion sub-committees and a self-study writing
committee consisting of University faculty, staff, administrators and
students, prepared for the accreditation review beginning in March
of 2002.

criterion.
