Scholarship Recipients for 2007-2008

Danielle:

My Name is Danielle and I am currently a full time sophomore at the University of Northern Colorado. I am a member of the Taos Pueblo tribe located in Taos New Mexico. I love being around children of all ages and think that going into the teaching profession will be the best thing that is ever going to happen to me. I think it’s amazing that I will be able to have a job where I am intrigued by every minute. I’m also a very family oriented person and love my animals. Outside of the classroom I love reading for my enjoyment. When I’m stressed reading is what will get me back on track. I also have a part time job at our local mall at Dillard’s. I am very grateful for my Fighting Whites Scholarship; it has aided me in many ways this year.

Sarah:

I am graduating with a degree in History and minor in Political Science. I spend all my free time with my husband and fourth month old son. I plan on using my degree to learn more about my tribe's political structure and take an active role in local politics including a career if possible.

Michelle:

My name is Michelle. I am currently finishing up my junior year at the University of Northern Colorado. I am an elementary education major with an emphasis in history. After I graduate I hope to continue my education at UNC by earning my masters degree in deaf education. I was born and lived my first eighteen years in Fort Collins, Colorado. I have wanted to become a teacher ever since I can remember. When I entered high school I began thinking about colleges and was thrilled to learn one of the best teaching schools in the country was only a half an hour away. I moved to Greeley after I graduated from Rocky Mountain High School and have lived here for the past three years. Receiving my education at UNC has been a wonderful experience and the Fighting Whites Scholarship has been extremely helpful in relieving some of the financial burdens that come along with attending college.
