Studium Generale III
"A Day in the Life of the Middle Ages" Event at UNC, will be held on April 2, 2011 at the University Center 9 AM - 6 PM
historically accurate arts, crafts, philosophies, politics, economies, and daily life. It provides an opportunity for students who enjoy the study of history and wish to participate in hands-on activities to work with students and others in the wider region who have similar interests.
Activities
Club activities include hands-on workshops, movie nights, martial arts practice (armoured sword fighting and fencing), and discussions on historical topics. Examples of workshops and topic presentations include: calligraphy and illumination, leather working, metal working, jewelry making, herbal crafts, and fletching (arrow making for archery). Activities for the hands-on practice of martial arts are coordinated with the local Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) group. Speakers are periodically brought in to meetings and gatherings to discuss and present various topics of historical relevance, such as the clothing of a specific period in the Middle Ages, literature, guilds, etc.
