Interlibrary Loan

If Prospector can't provide the items you need, try Interlibrary Loan. This is a cooperative project involving libraries all over the USA and abroad.
ILL offers:

• access to most of the contents of hundreds of American and foreign libraries;
• relatively slow service: successfully filled requests arrive in 7 days - 2 months; articles will genarally arrive faster.
• comprehensive service: all kinds of material are available (but note that most libraries don't send out recordings).

To make a request via Interlibrary Loan, a UNC student/staff/faculty can link to webZAP, a service that allows the request to be processed online.

Community members (non-student/faculty/staff member) will need to complete a paper request form which is available at the Circulation Desk. There is a $5.00 fee per successfully filled Interlibrary Loan requests for those.

When your items arrive, email will be sent to your UNC campus e-mail account.  They will also display on your library account as items on hold for you.

To find materials at other libraries, try one of the following two databases:

• WorldCat is a database of more than 45 million different items in U.S. and Canadian libraries as well as some foreign libraries. If you're using a UNC-sponsored Internet connection, you can access it from http://www.unco.edu/library/dbases.htm.
• Libweb is a free service that offers access to more than 3700 Web-interface library catalogs in more than 100 countries. Its URL is http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/libweb/.
