The faculty of the institution began with seven persons in its first year of classes in 1890. 

This series includes those items which list members of the faculty, and occasionally the exempt and/or classified staff.  Other sources of information on faculty names include the Personnel Rosters (RG6 S2) which include salaries, and College and University Bulletins , i.e. catalogs (RG3 S1) and Student-Staff Directories (RG3 S4).  For names of faculty members appointed after 1984, reference should be made to the Trustees minutes which carry all personnel appointments (RG1 S3).  For names of emeritus faculty, see RG6 S12.
