Faculty/University Dames. 1907-1987
 UNC Women's Association. 1987-

As stated in the bylaws printed in the 1979-80 membership directory, the purposes of the organization were to socialize and provide service to members and to foster closer associations among faculty families.  Initially the membership was composed of female spouses of faculty, administrators and other women in high positions in Colorado's higher education system.  By 1982, the introduction to Cooking with Class indicates that the wives of staff members and women faculty and staff were also eligible for membership.

Membership directories

The Faculty Dames has been in existence at least fifty years and during some of those years has published a directory with: names of spouse, names and ages of children, and names and addresses of emeritus members including those retired and living out of Colorado.  The first Dames directory in the Archives is for the academic year 1966-67.  There are several directories for the 1970s, one for 1980-81, and one for 1981-82.  The latter two directories include the names of members in one alphabet and an additional listing of (theoretically) all members of the exempt staff, that is, faculty and administration.
