Faculty Senate Forum. 1985-  .   Includes basic minutes (originals in Senate Office)

The UNC Faculty Senate Forum was first published in January of 1985.  When school is in session, it is published twice monthly.  Copies are photocopied, with from 4 to 16 pages per issue. Regular features include agendas for upcoming meetings, minutes of past meetings, communications from or about senators, reports of standing and ad hoc committees, and other groups charged by the Senate or provided for in the Faculty Constitution.
The purpose of the Forum is to improve the quality, quantity and currency of information from the Senate and to facilitate faculty involvement in Senate deliberations and decision making.
6-4 Faculty Senate Welfare Committee
Minutes and some supporting documents of the Faculty Senate Welfare Committee (1965) -.
The Welfare Committee was established May 1965 by the Constitution of the Colorado State College Faculty.  The Committee is involved in matters that affect faculty academic freedom and tenure, promotion, salary, working conditions, institutional benefits, and other institutional policies that may promote or hinder a faculty member's academic effectiveness and professional growth.  The committee prepares the Faculty Handbook , which is the faculty policy of the University.
The Faculty Senate Welfare Committee appoints a Grievance Committee to hear Class I grievances as defined by the Welfare Committee.
6-5 Senate Committee on Reorganization
This Committee was established to look into the possible reorganization of all major faculty committees.  It met from March 1974 through January 1975, at which time it filed its report entitled "Overall Proposal for Senate Reorganization". The Committee of seven faculty members was chaired by Sylvia Thurnburg. The function of the Committee was to investigate the governance responsibility of the Senate with reference to:
1. Functions and charges of the Senate committees
2. Specific questions regarding representation on the Senate and on its committees
3. Possible recommendations concerning a need for reorganization of the faculty role in the University governance structure.
6-6 Faculty Legislative Committee
6-7 Senate Ad-Hoc Committees
6-8 Academic Policies Committee
6-9 Salary Audit Committee/Salary Equity Committee/Salary & Benefits Committee
The Salary Audit Committee was established prior to November 1977.  The November 7, 1977 minutes include a paragraph with a report from the committee by Professors Ross and L. Hoffman.  They stated that the committee was set up as a fact finding committee, not a policy committee, and recommended that it be made a permanent one "because the issues involved are so complex."  A motion was made (McConnell-Munson) and passed to do so, and a second motion was passed calling for nominations to be done through the Senate Elections Committee.
Professor L. Hoffman became chair of the committee that included Professors Cody, Bosch and Richardson, and in September 1978 it presented the first salary model.
