FILE 8 Master Plan. 1974-1978
The Master Plan was a planning project begun in 1974 under the administration of President Richard Bond. It was viewed as an ongoing process which would be continued and updated annually. The documents are the result of efforts undertaken by a committee of faculty, staff and students (listed in the Plan), and not the work of a professional planning office.
The goals were:
To provide a focus for the University.
To describe existing programs and program support areas, and to identify needs for the continuation and improvement of quality programs and service.
To define long-term objectives with respect to enrollment growth in specific program areas.
To examine the present academic organization and to recommend changes to strengthen program areas.
To identify potential new programs with the role and mission of UNC and the needs of the State.
To examine existing buildings in light of present and projected program needs, and to recommend a plan for renovation of old buildings and construction of new ones as needed.
To recommend a system for continued planning.
Volumes I and II were completed in September 1976.
Volume I contains four main sections:
    Section I Overview and synthesis.
Section II Profile of the University.
Section III Physical facilities.
Section IV Planning process used in developing the original document.
Volume II is entitled Academic Research, and provides departmental descriptive data, the faculty staffing formula, course analyses, and various projections.
The Supplement completed in March 1977 updates the earlier academic data, provides a dozen exhibits on departmental and other academic information, gives enrollment projections, a plan for CSAP, and further discusses the academic planning process.
Physical Facilities Supplement - This volume completed in September 1978, provides more thorough and recent information on the physical plant, together with utilization data and plans. Its opening page refers to the fact that the Academic Master Plan had been approved in June 1977 by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. It repeats the academic sections on the Role and Mission of the University and includes what appears to be a complete inventory of University facilities.

Minutes, correspondence and supporting documents of the ad hoc Governance Committee 1975-1976.
The task force on Governance was established by President Richard Bond to investigate questions of University governance in response to student concern over their role in the decision making process.  The charge was to identify the problems in UNC governance systems and the constraints under which one must work, and to decide whether to modify existing structures or to create new ones.  Students, faculty, staff and administrators were members of the committee.
