Mari Michener Art Gallery

The Mari Michener Art Gallery was dedicated October 13, 1995 to honor Mrs. Michener's lifelong interest in the fine arts. She and her husband were avid patrons, benefactors and collectors of art. Mari Yoriko Sabusawa was born and raised in Las Animas, Colorado; she married James Albert Michener on October 23, 1955 in Chicago. She died in Austin, Texas on September 25, 1994 at age 74.

The Mari Michener Art Gallery is supported by the Friends of the UNC Libraries, and hosts shows by locally and nationally known artists and often displays the work of alumni, faculty, and staff of the University. Located in the southeast corner of the first floor of the James A. Michener Library, the Gallery is open all hours the Library is open. Telephone 970-351-2601 for further information.

For more information about scheduling an event in the Gallery, see the Mari Michener Gallery Non-Library Use Policy.
