To Connect to UNC ResNet....

  1. Check your computer with the UNC ResNet minimum system requirements.

    Macintosh             Windows
     
  2. Install an Ethernet Network Card and Cat 5 Patch cable.

    Installation services are available at Bear Logic Your Campus Technology Store.  The service fee of $25.00 covers the installation of the network card.  Special Note:  This price does not include the cost of the network card, only the installation of the card.  Network cards and patch cables can be purchased from Bear Logic.
     
  3. Configure your Computer

    Macintosh
    Windows 95/98
    Windows 2000
    Windows Millennium
    Windows XP--No Configuration Needed
     
  4. Plug your computer into the ResNet jack. 

         Hints to know which jack it is:

         it looks like a phone jack but the plug area is larger than a phone cord plug
         it will be labeled with letters and numbers
         it may have multiple plugs openings
         it may be red in color (Wilson, Decker, Gordon)
         it may be physically located in a central  location or in the bedroom areas if you reside      in a suite or apartment

     
  5. Open your web browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape) and it will automatically start at the ResNet Activation site.   Complete the ResNet Activation process at http://resnet.unco.edu following the instructions on the pages.If you cannot access this web site, contact the Technical Support Center at 351-4357 for assistance.

    Special Note: This process can only be completed on campus with the computer you will be using with ResNet and is not available from 12:00 am - 3:00 am.
     
    Information you will need to know when completing this process:
             Bear Number (Student ID Number)
             UNC Email Account

    If you do not know your UNC Email address, you will need log into URSA and select the Email Password Change link. After clicking the link, a new page will display showing you your email address or you can contact the Technical Support Center.
